WAYNE, NJ — For the first time since 1989, Lakeland is back on top of Passaic County boys soccer.

The Lancers defeated Passaic Tech 3–2 in double overtime on Saturday, capturing their fourth county championship and improving to 17–0.

Adam Spadaccini delivered the championship-winning moment with 5:33 remaining in the second overtime period. His left-footed strike from outside the penalty area found the upper-right corner, ending the final and sending Lakeland into celebration.

It was Spadaccini’s second goal of a match that demanded a comeback from the Lancers. After he opened the scoring, Passaic Tech responded with two goals shortly before halftime. Dylan Gonzalez Arcila equalized before Adrian Ormeno headed home a corner to give the Bulldogs a 2–1 lead at the break.

Lakeland answered less than two minutes into the second half through Michael DaSilva, whose finish brought the teams level at 2–2. Neither side could find a winner through the remainder of regulation or the first overtime period.

Then Spadaccini struck again.

His golden goal completed the comeback and ended a 37-year championship wait, giving Lakeland’s players, coaches, families, and supporters a moment to remember.
